16 Ton Studios is located in the heart of Music Row. It's one of the most unique studios in the city of Nashville. and was designed by world-famous acoustician Michael Cronin.
16 Ton is one of the busiest studios in town, catering to artists ranging from Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes to The Jordanaires, and a host of other award-winning international recording artists.
The control room (tuned by Bob Hodas, the world authority on control-room acoustics) is a comfortable space that wraps its sonics around the listener, providing a realistic picture of the song.
Beyond the great variety of instruments, microphones and outboard gear available at 16 Ton, the studio's console is its centerpiece. The one-of-a-kind custom Dymaxion Tube console is the world’s largest tube-powered console. Known for its striking appearance and distinctive sound, it sets a new standard for 21st-century analog and digital recording performance.
